Danielle- I thought her presentation was very inclusive and provided factual information as well as tips for a healthier lifestyle. I do not have any suggestions.

Alex- I thought the presentation on Da Vinci was interesting and her theme reflected the subject well.

Bruce- His presentation on the egyptian pyramids was very imformative and provided absic background information. It was structured so that it was easily understood.

Stephanie- I think Stephanie's presentation was the most interesting just because the field itself is very exciting and I admire her for pursuing such a challenging career.

Jamila- The presentation reflected her personal life and academic career simultaneously which I think is difficult to convey in a powerpoint. But she did it!

Ekow- Some of the techonological terms kind of confused me but he did try to explain them and the aids were very helpful.

The In's and Out's of a Computer

Unfortunately I was not present for what I hear was a very interesting presentation by Mr. Hechler. I was told by some classmates that the talk was very instructive. He talked about the difference between Macs and PC's which I ahd never understood before. Another really important thing he mentioned was how to clean a computer screen. I think this was one of the things I paid the most attention to because my labtop screen is always dirty. At least we all know one person that we can seek out if we have any questions regarding which new computer we should buy!

Ed Pratt and Pfizer

I will give reasons why I chose him and I how him being an INternational Business Major helped Pfizer.

Tips for a Good Powerpoint

We have been working with powerpoints for a while now in class and we are now able to come up with tips that will hopefully keep others from making mistakes on their own presentations:

1)The powerpoint should be an aid not the presentation itself
2)Visually attractive but not distracting
3)Only the important information should be provided
4)Limit number of bullets
5)Appropriate use of images, sounds and other effects
6)Maintain a constant theme and background

Mr. Nolan Presentation

Mr. Nolan came to our class to give a presentation on ways to use the internet in order to perform research. I think what helped me the most about his presentation was that he showed us how to use the Advanced Search on Google which I never used before but would come in very handy seeing as how Google ismy main search engine.

PowerPoint

So I use powerpoints all the time. At my high school they were a big Deal, HUge deal! The first thing I remember being told is to save the colors and decorations for poster board. So in my opinion, a good powerpoint is one that has just enough style to show effort, but at the same time it should be professional and formal. It should be an aid, used to point out the most important points of a presentation or just to help the audience follow along. Therefore, it should have a small amount of information: only the vital text. Images, charts and graphs should also be put on the powerpoints to keep the audiences interest. my professors use them all the time to highlight the most important points or outline of their lectures. They also use this kind of presentation to give instructions or show a slideshow of images. Being able to use powerpoint effectively is in my opinion extremely important for the "real world" and something you should get on top of learning ASAP.

Microsoft Experience

For as long as I can remember I have been using Microsoft Word. My parents made sure I knew my way around the basic programs at a young age. Besides it being the one program I needed for all of my classes. So I feel pretty sure about my skills on word. What I really would like to practice is using Excel because I think it is important to know how to create a spreadsheet and write out formulas, especially for later on in life.

Computer Skills

My computer skills....hmmm...well honestly I don't remember not having a computer. When I was a kid we had those really old desktops that were huge and that you had to type in commands to get anything done. Then when I was around 7 or 8 I was put into this computer course which was basically an excuse for me to hang out with a bunch of kids and play "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" or Pinball all day.
After that I had to take a computer class every year up until my sophomore year of high school. I learned how to use Excel, how to design web pages, and other basic skills. I guess because after sophomore year I basically stuck to MSN, Hotmail, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word I forgot alot of what I had learned before. Which is why I am in this course now.
Right now I own a Sony VAIO laptop that I love and have no complaints about except that since everyone here seems to have a MAC its more difficult for me to get things done.

First thing's First

So hey everyone "Que hay"? That's Spanish slang for what's up? My name is Diandra Pastor Hyde and I'm a Freshman here at Trinity originally from the Bay Islands of Honduras. However, I went to high school in San Pedro Sula, Honduras (which is in my opinion the second best place after the islands.) In case you don't know where that is, I've provided a link with pictures and information because it would be a shame for you to go another day without knowing about Honduras.

I guess one of the first things I have to point out about myself is that there is nothing more important to me than my family and close friends. I'm very family oriented and try to represent them as best I can in everything that I do. My father is a doctor, my mother a business owner, and I have three younger brothers.

My ideal day would be laying out on the deck of a yacht with my friends enjoying the sun with a pina colada in one hand and nothing but sand and sea for miles. It kind of brings to mind a Kenny Chesney song, "No shoes, No shirt, No problems." That's me, I'm an islander through and through as laid-back as you can be, but extremely driven when I want something.

I guess that covers the basics. I really never have been interested in blogs because I value my privacy a lot. So anything else you want to know you may want to ask.
